Seráafia/Replacement 12
From the cycle Lost to regain see also project description
A project for the group exhibition SET IN MOTION - 20 years of Kunstraum Innsbruck 06.11.2015 - 23.01.2016

A painter and a draftswoman, Maria Peters's creative art starts out from the virtual existence of alter egos, who pursue various artistic practices in the past and the future. Peters links these different characters to an illustrated blog, which she develops within the framework of the exhibition.
From the text announcing the exhibition SET IN MOTION, Kunstraum Innsbruck, 2015

In this project Seráafia/Replacement 12 tells of her activities in the year 2474.
It has been winter for many years now, people's lives are lived inside buildings, in perfectly staged worlds of experience. Seráafia hears that in the mountain regions it is sometimes possible to see the sun - she braves the open air, where temperatures are about minus fifty degrees ...
The initial installation on the wall of the Kunstraum was expanded with texts and works about Seráafia's search for the sun throughout the course of the exhibition. In the exhibition the story ended when she encountered people in the mountains, who were living voluntarily on the edge of civilisation. Fascinated, she sets out to mingle with them.

The story of Seráafia was not told to its conclusion in the exhibition; staying with the people in the wilderness will change her; her return still lies ahead.

Parallel to the exhibition project, Seráafia wrote reports for my blog page on her report (German) and for her public Facebook page to facebook (German)
