Im Juni/Juli 2016 wanderte ich zu Fuß von Jena (Thüringen) über Leipzig
nach Berlin und weiter nach Rostock an die Ostsee. In der halb fiktionalen
Rolle von Nachfolgerin 08 sammelte ich auf dieser Wanderung Motive für den Zyklus "Lost to regain".
Der Kunstraum Innsbruck hatte als Unterstützung für dieses Projekt u. A. eine
Expeditions-Postkarten-Aktion ins Leben gerufen, und ich berichtete wöchentlich auf meiner Blog-Seite.
Es entstand eine rege Kommunikation zwischen dem Publikum und mir (bzw. Nachfolgerin 08).
Ich erhielt Anregungen und Bemerkungen per SMS, E-Mail, Telefon und über die
Kommentarfuktion auf meiner Blog-Seite.
In June/July 2016 I hiked on foot from Jena (Thuringia) via Leipzig to Berlin
and on to Rostock at the Baltic Sea. In the semi-fictional role of Replacement 08,
I collected motifs for the cycle "Lost to regain" on this hike.
The Kunstraum Innsbruck had initiated an expedition postcard campaign as support for this project, and I reported weekly on my blog page.
A lively communication developed between the audience and me (or Replacement 08). I received suggestions and comments via SMS, e-mail, telephone and via the comment section on my blog page.

Die Geschichte der Wanderung:
Nachfolgerin 08 begab sich (Anfangs noch als Maria Peters) auf eine ca. 600 Kilometer weite
Wanderung durch den Osten Deutschlands. An verschiedenen Orten und während zufälliger Begegnungen
tauchten plötzlich seltsame "Erinnerungen" in ihrem Gedächtnis auf. Fast gleichzeitig erschienen
auf ihrer Blogseite nun auch mysteriöse Gastbeiträge aus der Zukunft.
In einer alten Fabrik in Luckenwalde, kurz vor Berlin, geriet sie plötzlich in eine Zeitanomalie.
Sie erkannte nun, dass sie Nachfolgerin 08 ist, eine von 24 Frauenfiguren, die vom 19. Jahrhundert
bis ans Ende des vierten Jahrtausends leben. (Siehe auch Projektbeschreibung "Lost to regain".)
Sie "erinnerte" sich nun nach und nach an alle Lebensgeschichten ihrer Vorgängerinnen und Nachfolgerinnen.
Sie sah also sowohl in die Vergangenheit, wie auch in die Zukunft. Und manche zukünftigen Entwicklungen
erschreckten sie.
In Rostock traf sie deshalb die Entscheidung, diese Zeitlinie zu verlassen.
Sie beschloss, den Versuch zu wagen, unsere momentane Zukunft von einer parallelen
Möglichkeitslinie aus zu verändern.
Bevor sie verschwand, schickte sie ihre Tagebücher und Arbeiten nach Berlin ― an
ihren Chronisten, einen Historiker und Schriftsteller, den sie im Treptower Park
in Berlin kennen gelernt hatte.
Ihm erzählte sie die ganze Geschichte, denn sollte es ihr nicht gelingen, die
aktuelle Zeitlinie zu verändern, so sollte der Chronist die bevorstehende Zukunft
zumindest überliefern.

The Story Of the Hike:
In an old factory in Luckenwalde, just outside Berlin, she suddenly found herself in a time anomaly. She now realized that she is Replacement 08, one of 24 female characters living from the 19th century to the end of the fourth millennium. (See also project description "Lost to regain".) She now gradually "remembered" all the life stories of her predecessors and Replacements. So she looked into the past as well as into the future. And some future developments frightened her. In Rostock, she therefore made the decision to leave this timeline. She decided to try to change our present future from a parallel line of possibilities.
Before she disappeared, she sent her diaries and drawings to Berlin―to her Chronicler, a historian and writer whom she had met in Treptower Park in Berlin. To him she told the whole story, because if she did not succeed in changing the current timeline, the Chronicler should at least deliver the forthcoming future.

Im Jahr vor dieser Wanderung besuchte ich schon einmal die KZ-Gedenkstätte
in Sachsenhausen und drehte dort ein Video.
In the year before this hike I already visited the concentration camp memorial site in Sachsenhausen and I shot a video there.
