Der Werkzyklus 'Lost To Regain' ist die räumlich performative Inszenierung einer Erzählung.
Die Handlung der Geschichte entwickelt sich aus Bildern, Objekten, Texten und Performances,
deren Grundlage, neben Literatur-Recherchen, v.a.
Zukunftsmodell anzustreben.
'Lost To Regain' berichtet von Transhumansimus, Neuro-Enhancement, Parallelgesellschaften,
Chronologie der Figuren der Geschichte / Chronology of the characters of the story
The work cycle 'Lost To Regain' is the spatial performative staging of a narrative.
The plot of the story develops from texts, images, sculptures, performances and videos,
which are based on literature research and, above all, on subjects, events and observations
from my numerous travels and hikes. I mix these real experiences with fantasy and science
fiction elements to create a vision of a human future.
Frame story of the narrative:
In 'Lost To Regain', the fictional character of Replacement 08, my alter ego living in our present, tells of partly gloomy visions of the future that she has seen―because she has fallen into a time anomaly―in an abandoned factory building near Berlin.
The time span of these visions ranges from the 19th century to the year 3968.
In the form of snapshots from the life stories of 24 successively existing and biographically linked female characters, we learn about various social models, environments and genetic experiments that extend people's lifespans to the extreme. Lethargy and weariness torment people in these distant times.
Replacement 08 does not want to accept the future she has seen. She decides to pass on her visions: in picturesque form and accompanied by texts about an absurdly exaggerated human search for perfect happiness as well as comments from a sarcastic machine intelligence. In this way, she wants to encourage us to strive for a better model of the future.
'Lost To Regain' tells of transhumanism, neuro-enhancement, parallel societies, climate catastrophes and eco-spiritualism, but also of self-empowerment and enlightened idealism.
Developed modularly over the past almost ten years―and already presented in excerpts (see below)―the final result is a labyrinthine installation that draws together the threads of the story and oscillates with relish between the diverse possibilities of how we can/could actively shape the future.
